“Our family and business heritage is defined by tea, and our brand, Dilmah Tea is globally successful. We came into the hotel business by accident, but are now firmly established as a leading provider of luxury hospitality services. The Wild Coast Tented Lodge is our latest offering: a spectacular luxury tented camp, situated in a stunning location where the jungle meets a pristine beach, overlooking the blue waters of the Indian Ocean. In developing this unique luxury camp, we wanted to ensure the man-made structures blended seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. The team of Dutch, English and Sri Lankan designers were able to achieve that, thanks to the use of carefully selected natural materials. The use of arched fabric structures allows each tent to take on the shape and colour of the nearby rocks and boulders, as do the bamboo-clad dining pavilions. The Wild Coast Tented Lodge takes forward our hotel group’s strong push for sustainable growth through a number of eco initiatives. Grey water from guest rooms and public areas is recycled for use in landscaping, whilst a solar plant meets 40% of energy needs. The conservation station is used for monitoring and protecting vulnerable wildlife within the surrounding area, including the Sri Lankan leopard. These offer guests an authentic cultural experience, while contributing towards local communities and the environment through the MJF Foundation and Dilmah Conservation.”
